Session 2 | NGOs for development

NGOs, throughout history, have been involved directly and indirectly in the development of India. Standing at the forefront and taking accountability at various instances, NGOs have collaboratively worked with and strengthened our governments and markets in the past decades. They have been dynamic in almost all sectors – health, education, financial, rural development etc. These organisations apart from acting as a mediator between the society and government, have offered a helping hand by acting as ‘think-tanks’, improvising and offering creative solutions.

As India moves forward on its growth journey, these organisations will be key contributors in solutions for poverty alleviation, caste stigmatisation, water and environment, women rights and child labour, and climate change, among many others.

Indian School of Public Policy, the first-of-its-kind knowledge institution, organised a webinar on “NGOs for Development” with the founder of Social Development for Communities (SDC) Foundation, Anoop Nautiyal on October 19, 2022.

In this Policy Relay Session, Anoop talked about the role NGOs play in development of a nation. He has also discussed how these institutions have been key players in addressing various social, economic and environmental issues.
