Technology Domain

The students would get a broad understanding of policy-making in the digital era and a glimpse into the art of balancing stakeholder interests while crafting public policy. They will gain first-hand experience in policy formulation in digital communications and technologies from a consumer-centric viewpoint. This perspective is unique and less frequently examined but essential for the lawmaker, the policymaker, and the industry to succeed in unlocking the potential of digital technologies. Unless the consumer or citizen is meaningfully and safely connected and can trust these technologies, they can cause much harm. Students will appreciate how this could lead to consumer disenchantment and disengagement. The course looks at the pertinent issues of inclusion/access, data privacy, competition, and ethics in AI as a case in point. It focuses on global concerns while keeping an eye on accompanying policies in the Indian scenario.

The students would develop the following understanding during the technology domain sessions:

● Contemporary Policy issues as regards Consumer Protection in the Digital Era

● Balancing considerations of:

o Inclusion,

o Competition,

o Privacy and Data Protection

o Balancing stakeholder interests in Tech. policymaking

o Ethics in Artificial Intelligence Strategies
