Centre for Universal Health Assurance (CUHA)

The Centre for Universal Health Assurance (CUHA) at the Indian School of Public Policy (ISPP), New Delhi, has been established to drive India’s momentum towards Universal Health Coverage (UHC). Conceived as a hub of research, innovation, and policy dialogue, CUHA brings together a multidisciplinary team of experts in health systems, health finance, and health policy to reimagine how healthcare can be made truly universal.

CUHA’s mission is to build an effective, equitable, empathetic, and economically efficient health system for India. To achieve this, the Centre is working on strengthening primary healthcare, improving the affordability of medicines and diagnostic devices through pooled procurement, creating innovative solutions for capacity building, and leveraging technology to expand access to care. It also actively promotes public financing, complemented by other modes of health financing, for providing assured financial protection to all who seek needed healthcare. CUHA’s vision for health assurance extends beyond UHC to promotion of multi-sectoral policies for health promotion and disease prevention as well as enabling communities for informed health action.
